I’m happy to receive referrals from health professionals involved in your care but you don’t need a referral to work with me.
You can get in touch by emailing brodiepsychology@gmail.com or by using the contact form on this website. It’s helpful if you can share a little about what you’re hoping to get support with.
I’ll then get back to you within a week to arrange a brief phone call. This gives us both a chance to see if we might be a good fit and to organise a time for your first appointment.

Yes — what you share with me in therapy is private and confidential.
As a clinical psychologist, I’m legally and ethically bound to keep what you tell me confidential. This means I won’t share information about you with anyone else unless you give me permission to do so. For example, you may want me to liaise with whānau, support people or other health professionals involved in your care.
There are some situations where I may be required to share information, such as:
I believe that you or someone else is at serious risk of harm
I’m required or permitted to do so by law (e.g. by court order)
Wherever possible, I will discuss these situations with you first.
Psychologists are also required to have regular professional supervision — a space where we can check our thinking and receive guidance from another psychologist or mental health professional. When I discuss client work with my supervisor (who is also bound by confidentiality), I tend to use first names and avoid using identifying details.
If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality, I’m always happy to talk it through.

If you're feeling unwell but still up to talking, I'm happy to meet via video or phone instead of in person. Just let me know as early as you can so I can send you a link (and possibly work from home that day).
If you need to cancel your appointment, there’s no charge as long as you give at least 24 hours’ notice — this allows me to offer the appointment to someone else who may need it.
Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are billed in full.

Of course! Babies are welcome. Many parents do find that they get more out of the appointment when they attend without their baby but if you don’t have access to childcare, it’s better to come with your baby than not come at all.

Sometimes people feel unsure about whether therapy is still helping, or they’re not sure how to bring up the idea of stopping. You're welcome to stop coming to therapy at any time.
It's my hope that those I work with will reach a point where they feel confident managing without ongoing psychological support. If you start to feel like therapy may no longer be needed, I encourage you to let me know. Having a conversation about it can give us a chance to reflect on your progress, talk through any concerns, and plan for a thoughtful ending — if that feels right. Of course, you're also welcome to stop at any time without a final session, but where possible, having some closure can be helpful.
Sometimes challenges in therapy can be worked through with open communication. I welcome any feedback or suggestions — therapy is a safe space to explore and express your needs.
Not every psychologist is the right fit for every person, and that’s completely okay. If at any point you feel like you'd prefer to work with someone else, I support that and may be able to help you find another psychologist.
